Rabies Shed Study

The completion of the ferret rabies shed study was landmark in the ferret community as it finally established a CDC and multi-state accepted quarantine period for ferrets that bit or scratched humans. What this meant was that thousands of ferret owners were now free of the fear of having their pets confiscated and tested in the event of an “exposure.” Unfortunately, testing a ferret for rabies requires euthanizing the ferret.
