Donation Options

The Ferret Association of Connecticut, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization.  All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Donations are cheerfully welcomed and acknowledged! For those unsure of what to send, a gift certificate to a local pet store chain, grocery store, or online retailer such as Chewy.com or Amazon.com is always deeply appreciated. You can shop our Chewy wishlist here.

You can mail your gift to :

Ferret Association of Connecticut, Inc. (or FACT)
14 Sherbrooke Avenue
Hartford, CT 06106-3838

You can also make your gift by Credit Card or through Pay Pal. You do not have to register with PayPal. All transactions are completely secure. The first option “Donate” allows you to make a General Donation. If you choose, you can give us instructions on how to divide your gift; or we will use it wherever most needed.

Combined Federal Campaign

The Combined Federal Campaign admitted FACT as a member of the Animal Welfare Fund. We are able to accept payroll deductions from federal government and postal employees from campaign areas Greater Hartford and Rhode Island/Southeastern Massachusetts.  Please use our CFC Code of 40910 to make sure your donation reaches us. We have also applied for inclusion in the 2014 Connecticut State Employees Charitable Campaign (CSEC) through Partners for a Better World.

United Way

It’s not commonly known, but every local United Way allows donors to direct their donation to any accredited nonprofit organization, whether or not it is local or one of their “agencies.”  For those whose companies participate in United Way campaigns each fall, this can be a wonderful way to donate through easy payroll deductions.  You can also make a one-time donation by check.  Look carefully on the United Way donation form: somewhere there will be a space for you to write in a designated charity.  To ensure funds reach us, “Ferret Association of Connecticut, Inc – Hartford, CT – EIN 06-1386567” should be noted on the form. You can choose to make your donation anonymous or have United Way notify us of your gift so we can send a personal thank you. United Way does normally keep up to 10% of your gift to cover their administrative costs, but that’s a reasonable price to pay if small payroll deductions allow you to give throughout the year.

Company Matching Gifts

A large number of major corporations will “match” donations made by employees to nonprofit organizations. Check with your Human Resources department or Employee Handbook for any restrictions and the requirements.  It may also be possible for you to donate via payroll deduction.  These benefits were often originally established to help support executive’s charitable interests, but there’s no reason YOU can’t take advantage of them! It’s a terrific “free-to-you” way to maximize your charitable dollars.

Donations of Goods

FACT accepts gifts of unopened bags of food or unexpired medications. Unused postage of any denomination is a great help and easy to mail to us.  We also appreciate donations of paper towels – Bounty is our favorite!  Please contact us for information before delivering or sending any items as storage space is very limited. Ferrets are not hard on toys or bedding and ours have an abundance!  We regularly recommend those wishing to donate cages to contact wildlife rehabilitation facilities.

FACT is delighted to accept donations from corporations that manufacture items that can be used for domestic ferrets. New supplies, even if seconds or returned goods, that we don’t need for the shelter ferrets are either donated to our Foster families, caring for elderly/sick ferrets, or auctioned to raise shelter funds. Please use the contact us form or call to discuss what goods you have available.  Corporate donors are gratefully acknowledged on our site as well with a donation receipt.

In-Kind Donations

A donation of services or discount is equally useful! Whether you are a corporation willing to offer a discount for goods or services we use or an individual with an unwanted gift card, we gratefully acknowledge your help. While we may not be able to provide a tax deduction receipt for your gift, be assured we will put it to the best use possible to help the ferrets.

Charitable Bequests

A wonderful way to provide for ferrets is through a bequest in your will. Here is a “layman’s” description of ways to include the ferrets in your planned giving. However, for the latest advice and correct wording, please talk to your lawyer or financial adviser.

The appropriate designation for FACT is “Ferret Association of Connecticut, Inc – Hartford, Connecticut – EIN 06-1386567.”
