The Ferret Association has a very active Facebook presence. Primarily we post information about adoptees, foster ferrets, shelter events as well as our press releases. Photos are shared for all our followers to enjoy. We also share information on a variety of special interest topics that affect or are related to ferrets or their kin around the world.

In addition, we maintain a Fundraising page – Ferret Assn of CT Fundraisers – where we run periodic auctions to support the shelter or other worthy causes such as the Xavier Ferret Canine Distemper Fund, the Ferret Shelters Directory, or other ferret organizations around the world.

https://www.itv.com/news/channel/2022-06-21/feral-ferrets-causing-havoc-in-guernseyPlease remember the ferrets on Guernsey island in the UK are very likely hybrids with wild stoats. Many in Europe use the term ferret, stoat, or polecat interchangably and while a domestic ferret is genetically different than a wild stoat, they easily interbreed. Normally domestic animals have eyes that are larger and more widely spaced, as that "infant" look is more appealing to humans. I'm sure Guernsey residents are unhappy with with losing their chickens to the fuzzies, but you have to admit the babies are still adorable! And doesn't that look like milk in the bottle? As one of the oldest mentions of a similar animal in ancient writing said, "you put out milk to catch the weasels." ... See MoreSee Less

Beware! Crooks "selling" animals on FB or Craigslist.used to just be limited to purebred puppies. They've expanded their nonexistent inventory to ferrets as store prices have risen. As this article notes, the best way to obtain a pet is through a legitimate nonprofit shelter. If the group doesn't have a ferret for you right now, be patient! Your haste to get a ferret Right Now could mean you lose a lot of $$ Right Now, too. ... See MoreSee Less
